Geographic Position:

This hotel seems born out of the sea and is situated in breath-taking position directly on the dark sand/flint beach of Acquafredda di Maratea. Although Maratea still belongs to the region Basilicata which is at the northern border of Calabria, we could not resist inserting this jewel in our accomodation offer.
The hotel Il Gabbiano is placed on a wonderful rock reef and the lonely bay in front of the hotel is framed of the wild colors of nature: the crystal-clear sea, the green mountains behind and the dark sandy beach.
The recently restructured hotel offers all comfort: The rooms are equipped with bath, balcony (partially with sea view) SAT-TV, air conditioning, Safe, hair dryer, refrigerator and telephone. From the huge window front of the restaurant (with terrace to eat outside) you have a gorgeous look on the sea and in the evening the noise of the waves guarantees a relaxing night. The excellent Cuisine with regional and international specialities and the sumptuous breakfast contribute to the relaxing wellness and holiday feeling. A perfect alternative to the Sea with private beach and beach service (against fee) is the private pool with sun terrace, umbrellas and deckchairs.
From September to November our guests can go out with the local fishermen to fish for tuna in front of ?Baia del Gabbiano?. The small local centre of Acquafredda can be reached on foot in 10 minutes; in direct proximity of the hotel (5 minutes walking distance) is a small Trattoria with bar and Tobacco shop. The centre of Maratea is 8 km away and mediated by its romantic yachting port and the surrounding bars and restaurants with typical Mediterranean flair. The landscape is framed by cliffs and sand banks, bays and Grottas, beaches with sumptuous pines, olive trees, oaks and mulberry trees.
The beautiful town of Sapri is only 8 km away and offers as alternative to relax and idyll the bustling atmosphere of a typical Southern Italian town with numerous fashion boutiques, bars and restaurants. The whole scenery is protected by the famous statue of Christ the Redeemer in White Garb who seems to direct the whole interaction of nature and beauty.CAR RECOMMENDED!
